A few days ago as I was watering the tomatoes my eye was caught by this bug, sitting below on the concrete:


I haven’t seen anything like this for the past four years I’ve lived here. It’s about 6 cm long and looks like a young butterfly, but I think it’s too long. If you know what kind of insect this is please leave a comment.

I found the answer myself in a small book about butterflies: It’s a Privet Hawkmoth (Sphinx ligustri in Latin).
