How To Keep Leek Moth Away

All of my leeks are damaged by larva from leek moth (Acrolepiopsis assectella) this year, which is sad because they have been with us since they were seeds in our bedroom windowsill. Well they were going to be eaten anyway I just hoped it would be by humans.

It seems like the most effective prevention, if not the only one, is to cover the beds with a fine-meshed net that will keep the adult leek moths from laying their eggs in the plants in the first place. (Or invite some bats to eat them but that’s a little bit more tricky ) Remember to destroy the infected plants and dig the soil in order to disturb any overwintering moths.
