How to Build a Cheap and Simple Scarecrow
Jul 21 2010Last year my strawberries were protected by a chicken wire mesh but as I’m scaling up my garden in size it’s not practical to use that kind of protection against birds. The best thing would probably be a large plastic netting that could easily be spread out over the strawberries and easily be removed again.
This year I’m testing a cheap and simple solution – meet the CD-ROM scarecrow:

What better things to do with your ancient computer CDROM’s than scare away birds from your precious strawberries?
Just have to think of something to scare off cats as well…
(Hmm, maybe a CD player with barking dogs?)
